At one time more than 150 covered bridges could be found in Connecticut and Rhode Island. This book authored by William Caswell, who now serves as the President of the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges, takes a look back at the history of these bridges that we see romantically but were more likely seen in their day as structures with shortcomings that were better replaced by iron bridges with trusses that didn't need covering.

As with other books in this Images of America Series this book is filled with photographs of the bridges and the communities where they were found. The cover photo is of Unionville's South Main Street bridge.
