That's Entertainment
Celebrations & Fun in Unionville September 24th - November 19th The Museum’s fall exhibit, "That's Entertainment", chronicles Unionville celebrations, town events, entertainment venues, and ways residents enjoyed family time and music. Drawing on the museum’s extensive collection of photographs, documents, artifacts, and vintage clothing, the exhibit will present the events, commemorations, parades, and celebrations of the last century.
Also featured will be the story of early entertainment venues like the Luxor Theater and the old Town Hall. From the Victrola to the Apple computer, the show will chronicle how Unionville residents entertained themselves with games, radio, television, record players, and MP3 players. Visitors will experience an old time radio comedy show, hear music from records across the decades, view a scary video of the beloved Lion’s Club Haunted House and see 60 years of performer signatures from the old Town Hall stage curtain. This free exhibit will be open from September 24th through November 19th on Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays from 2 to 4 p.m.
Finally - an addition!
Thank you to everyone who helped us reach our long-time goal of putting an addition on the Museum. The addition included a much-needed handicapped accessible bathroom and kitchenette. We held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 30th to celebrate its opening.
The addition will make our museum more accessible and allow us to expand our programs and events. The Museum Board is grateful to our many members and donors, businesses and civic organizations for their generous donations and commitment to our mission to preserve Unionville’s history and make it come alive for all. We are also grateful to the Town of Farmington for their ongoing support and partnership. |
