Celebrating 36 years of serving area members and residents, the Museum’s Board determined the need and developed a plan to construct an addition just off the back door to accommodate a new handicapped accessible bathroom, galley kitchen and some storage for cleaning and AV equipment.
The plans were prepared by Kemper Associates Architects in Farmington and have been approved by the Unionville Historic District. In addition, the museum has identified additional items needed to modernize its exhibition and research capabilities including such as a new sound system, podium, television, audio-visual equipment, computer, and new software that also need funding.
The projected cost of the construction project is $75,000. $25,000 has been appropriated by the Town of Farmington and an additional $25,000 is expected to be covered from grants and other support. The Museum's campaign goal is $30,000 for its share of the construction project and an additional $5,000 for additional museum upgrades. This will be done by cultivating and soliciting donations from its current museum membership, businesses and non-profits.
