"Take Me Out To The
Ball Game"
The Unionville
Museum will open this exhibit Sunday, March 30th 2:00 - 4:00PM.
We are featuring
Unionville's own, Dick McAuliffe. He signed with the Detroit
Tigers as an amateur fee agent out of high school and spent
three seasons in the Tiger's farm system. He was called up to
the big leagues at the end of the 1960 season and made his major
league debut on September 16, 1960. He played shortstop and
second base for them from 1960 - 1973. In the Tiger's 1968 World
Series Championship season, Dick played a key role. He had a
.344 on base percentage, led the American League with 95 runs
scored, and showed power with 50 extra base hits. He tied a
major league record by going the entire season without grounding
into a double play. He finished #7 in the 1968 American League
Most Valuable Player voting. He played for the Boston Red Sox in
1974 and 1975. In 1975 he help them win the American League
pennant. During his career he was a 3-time American League
All-star.
The exhibit will
